- Title
EXPERIMENTS WITH DRY COLLODION.
- Authors
Eastman, George
- Abstract
The article focuses on the experiment of George Eastman with dry collodion. It is inferred that when Eastman was starting his career as a photographer, one of his investments was the instructional book "Manual of Photography" by photographer Carey Lea, which was purchased on October 20, 1877. From Lea's book, Eastman learned a photographic technique using collodion but was dissatisfied with the method. It also discusses the two other methods of sensitizing photographic plates which are collodion emulsion and one which is formulated in 1871 using gelatin. Also included is the letter of Eastman to Lea which recorded his laboratory procedures on February 6, 1879 in Rochester, New York.
