- Abstract
This article cites a case study of an elderly female with upper gastrointestinal obstruction who, clinically and radiologically, underwent exploratory laparotomy. The surgery revealed grossly dilated proximal jejunal loops with multiple diverticula on the mesenteric side and bowel wall thickening. Jejunal diverticulosis and its complications, reportedly, is a rare surgical disease with an incidence of 1.1-2.3%. Incidence increases with age. Jejunal diverticula occur on the mesenteric border at the sites of perforation of muscle layer with blood vessels.
