- Abstract
This study conducted to reveal the most neglected area of in librarianship, while browsing literature found there is a gap and need to explore NGO libraries. In the international scenario considerable literature available, but at national level few researchers have explored this area. In this study an attempt has been made to know the status of NGO libraries, available resources, management, automation, usage, library services, marketing, qualification of library heads, and available opportunities for continuous education. A structured questionnaire used to collect data. Population of this study was the library incharges of NGOs based in Islamabad. The snowball sampling technique was used to reach the population. The conclusions were drowning from the analysis of data, libraries have different types of materials, books, journals, gray material but need to manage using a standardized classification scheme, and library automation. Various library services and facilities are offering CAS, FAQs, ILL, internet, but subscription status to research databases is not significant, and need to market library which may attract users. Recommended as NGO administrative must appoint professional librarians and take necessary measures for professional development.
