James Baldwin's Post-Sentimental Fiction: From "Previous Condition" to Another Country.
- Authors
JERNIGAN, ADAM T.
- Abstract
The article looks at the fictional essays of writer James Baldwin, looking particularly at the post-sentimental literary aesthetic. It looks at Baldwin's desire to move past a sentimental/anti-sentimental literary structure and his formulation of the post-sentimental literary form. The article also looks at Baldwin's novel "Another Country," which the author feels is the strongest example of the post-sentimental aesthetic.
