- Abstract
The article presents a literary critique of Robert Louis Stevenson's 1883 adventure novel "Treasure Island," focusing on the characters of Jim Hawkins and Dr. Livesey and the theme of resistance to maturing and adopting the mannerisms of adulthood. Topics addressed include the dynamics between Dr. Livesey and Jim, the function of the two characters switching roles as narrator within the story, and both characters' responses to violence.
