An essay is presented on the relationship between the books "The Lord of the Rings," by J. R. R. Tolkien and "Der Ring des Nibelungen," by Richard Wagner. The author reflects on the possible connection of the two books in terms of the concept of the ring. The author also tackles the possibility of the opposition of Tolkien on Wagenr's concept of the ring.
