- Title
A MISSING DISTICH IN THOMAS DRANT.
- Authors
MACEY, DAVID
- Abstract
The article points out errors in the transcription of the prefatory comments "To the Reader" of the translation of Roman author Horace's satires by Thomas Drant, which appeared in volume 9 of "English Renaissance Translation Theory: MHRA Tudor and Stuart Translations." The Greek distich, or poetic couplet, was missing from the work. It also argues about errors in footnotes. Both the Greek and English translation of the distich are presented.
