- Abstract
This essay traces the personal background of the authors study on the Jewish golem legends. She looks at the repercussions in her own life of the Talmudic statement that a woman is a golem. She references the work of several writers including Andre Brink, Eunice Lipton and Cynthia Ozick. She criticizes the small position of Jewish women in the Jewish society. In addition, the author shares his experience of exploring the legend as a Jewish mother.
