- Authors
Corkin, Stanley
- Abstract
An essay is presented on ways in which the late 1970s films "Network," "Saturday Night Fever," "New York, New York," "All That Jazz," and "Fame" articulated a network of globalized commerce and communication. Topics discussed include the films' historical salience, their anticipation of the later depiction of New York City in film and television, and their historically situated depiction of relative space. Film history's intersection with urban history is also mentioned.
