- Abstract
The article presents a study which aims to identify the quality and quantity of overbank sediment and assess floodwater quality in Fargo, North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota. The study did not detect gasoline-range organics, but diesel-range organics were detected in 26 of the 27 samples in overbank sediment. The study shows that it does not appear that flooding in the Red River of the North (RR) in Moorhead and Fargo resulted to lessened quality of water, soil or sediment equated with normal residential oil or river flows, even though flooding has environmental and social impacts.
