- Abstract
The space of Parisian jazz fans in the early 2000s shows that the different styles emerged in various periods of the history of the genre tend to correspond to the tastes and amateurs in distant, not to say opposite, positions in middle and higher classes. Jazz clubs and similar places are distributed in the urban space of the capital and organized into clusters that refer to socially differentiated forms of musical experiences. The article shows the homologies between stylistic poles, critical authorities, diffusion places and their audiences, and describes the mediations that organize the reunion and promote the correspondence between categories of musical goods and of consumers who appropriate them as a part of distinctive lifestyles.
