- Title
THE ECOLOGY OF THE MARITIME LICHENS AT BLAKENEY POINT, NORFOLK.
- Authors
McLean, R. C.
- Abstract
The article discusses the ecology of the maritime lichens in Blakeney Point, England. One important point which must be remembered is that the lichens cannot be considered apart from the phanerogamic vegetation, any more than the ground-flora of a wood can be considered apart from the trees. The prevalence of negroid forms among the lichens may be looked upon as an indication of the high light intensities reached in summer, in the production of which reflection from the great expanses of bare sand and shingle plays an important part.
