- Title
SHOULD IT BE ILLICIT TO SOLICIT? A LEGAL ANALYSIS OF POLICY OPTIONS TO REGULATE SOLICITATION OF ORGANS FOR TRANSPLANT.
- Authors
Glazier, Alexandra K.; Sasjack, Scott
- Abstract
The article analyzes the legality of policy options to regulate public solicitation of organs for transplant. It states that lawmakers should permit the solicitations of directed donations from living organ donors because it increases total donations without sacrificing equity and medical utility. On the other hand, the solicitations of directed donations from deceased donors should be restricted because it could compromise the principles of an established organ allocation system.
