- Abstract
The article presents an overview of a research project Community Participatory Approach to Measuring Farmworker Pesticide Exposure: PACE3 to address the health of Latino farmworkers and their families from 44 farmworkers in 11 counties in eastern North Carolina. The study collected data from 287 workers during the 2007 agricultural season to measure biomarkers of pesticide exposure, and provides descriptive analysis of their characteristics and urinary dialkylphosphate (DAP) metabolite concentrations. Findings show that the presence of the DAP metabolites among workers increased during the season which are comparable to the frequencies of detection in other studies. Moreover, the presence of DAP metabolite suggests longitudinal studies of biomarkers of used pesticides by the respondents.
