- Abstract
The regulatory provisions that affect the legal status of Catalan, corresponding to the last stage of the X Legislature, remain in a political context favourable to the strengthening of the Catalan language. The production of provisions that promote the process of linguistic normalization continues, through the activity of promotion or subsidies in different areas. However, the results of the autonomous elections and the new majorities in the Balearic Parliament paint a worrying scenario for the situation of the Catalan language. In terms of conflict, STC 37/2023, of April 19, which deals with the alleged violation of the right to effective judicial protection due to the refusal of a judicial body to translate into Spanish an interlocutory that had initially been drafted in Catalan, is particularly noteworthy.
