- Title
Grief and Belief.
- Authors
Gilmore, Jonathan
- Abstract
The author offers a response to the article "Grief and the Poet," by Catherine Wilson, published in the January 2013 issue of the "British Journal of Aesthetics," which discusses how literary works can induce negative emotions, such as grief, in readers. The author concurs with Wilson's argument that while the grief or loss experienced as a result of reading a fictional work is genuine, it does not register the same value as the grief or loss that is experienced as a result of a real-life event.
