- Title
WHY ‘ART’ DOESN’T HAVE TWO SENSES.
- Authors
Rowe, M. W.
- Abstract
The article looks at the technical distinctions of aesthetic senses of art introduced by Morris Weitz and elaborated on in the book "Aesthetics: An Introduction," by George Dickie. The author basis his discussion on classes of nouns, which include words defined by function, words with several possible functions, and words that are not functionally defined. Further argument is that logically, classification of art cannot exist since it is not socially suited to accepted practice and discussion of aesthetics.
