The article discusses the court case Ariosa Diagnostics Inc. v. Sequenom Inc., wherein Sequenom filed a patent infringement case against Ariosa Diagnostics Inc. Topics discussed include development of molecular technologies such as Non-Invasive Prenatal Genetic Testing (NIPGT) and laboratory developed tests for genetic diseases and cancer by Sequenom, and its competitor firms Ariosa Diagnostics Inc., Natera Inc., and Diagnostics Center Inc., who were the appellees.
