A reprint of the article "Clinical Application of a New Flexible Knitted Dacron Arterial Substitute," by Michael E. Debakey, Denton A. Cooley Stanley Crawford and George C. Morris, which appeared in the 1958 issue of "The American Surgeon," is presented. It cites some of the advantages of this arterial substitute, which include its availability in various sizes and shapes. It describes the application of knitted Dacron graft for replacement after resection of aneurysms or occlusive disease of the abdominal aorta or as a bypass.
