- Abstract
The article focuses on the transmission of sign language between deaf and hearing people within a community. It says that the deaf people tends to partner with each other in an aim to continue the existence of recessive deafness and sign language in a community. It also mentions the study conducted by K. Aoki and M. W. Feldman, which states that sign language persistence is associated with assortative mating.
