- Title
A POOR PLAYER: EXEMPTING THEATRICAL PRODUCTIONS FROM SMOKE-FREE LAWS.
- Authors
Freiberg, Michael
- Abstract
The article discusses the advisability of exempting theatrical productions from smoke-free laws in the U.S. on the ground of constitutional, practical and political necessities. It cites the series of cases involving three theaters in Colorado as examples. In the lawsuits, the theaters reasoned out that smoking on stage was protected artistic speech under the U.S. and Colorado constitutions. The cases Texas versus Johnson and Ward versus Rock Against Racism are also presented.
