- Abstract
The book "From Slaves, Robots, and Slaves. Transmedia Landscapes" edited by Mariano Urraco analyzes the conception of the robot and its relationship with science fiction. It also explores the construction and understanding of artificial beings and their role in reflecting on the contradictions and moral dilemmas of our culture. The book offers interesting material for teaching in social sciences and humanities, and analyzes the series Westworld from the perspective of intersectionality theory and the domination analysis matrix proposed by Hill Collins. In addition, it addresses Japanese manga and the video game NieR: Automata, and discusses the impact of technology on society and criticizes the transhumanist approach. In general, the book offers different perspectives on the phenomenon of robots and raises questions about the distinction between human and machine in the current context.
