- Abstract
The article addresses respiratory pathology and its relationship with the COVID-19 pandemic. It mentions the importance of knowing the latest updates on this disease and the clinical guidelines for treating people with persistent COVID-19 symptoms. It also discusses obstructive sleep apnea and chronic cough as relevant pathological entities. The names of specialists Cecilia Amato, Laura Asunción Bueno López, and Laura López Velasco are mentioned. The study found that COVID-19 survivors presented symptoms such as dyspnea, sweating, chest tightness, anxiety, and myalgia after one year of being discharged. In addition, risk factors associated with these persistent symptoms were identified. Other studies analyzed persistent symptoms and alterations in laboratory tests in recovered COVID-19 patients, predictors of post-COVID-19 functional sequelae, and the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea in primary care. The usefulness of symptom questionnaires in the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea in primary care and the relationship between obstructive sleep apnea and vascular disease in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus are also discussed. Finally, the need for further research on the management of patients with chronic cough in primary care and the optimal treatment of cough in patients with idiopathic interstitial lung diseases is mentioned.
