This article is an introduction to a special issue of the journal "Distance Learning." The author, Errol, discusses the variety of problems and challenges faced by distance learning instructors in the United States and Europe. Each school that offers online education is unique, and what may be a difficulty at one school may not exist at another. The special edition includes queries that Errol received but did not have space to publish in previous issues. Readers are encouraged to send their own queries or responses to Errol.
