- Title
Scope in Kuki-Chin Questions.
- Authors
Bedell, George
- Abstract
The article discusses the syntactic structure of questions delivered in Kuki-Chin languages such as Lai, Mizo and K'cho. It explains differences and similarities in subject-verb agreement observed in examples of polar questions, identification questions, and split interrogative phrases. It is noted that the Lai term "dah" may also function as an independent interrogative aside from being a complementizer in a question. The grammatical complexity of the Lai and Mizo languages is also explored.
