- Abstract
This article discusses a case of a 68-year-old woman with hairy cell leukemia who developed a purpuric eruption after receiving cladribine therapy. The patient presented with facial swelling, lip and tongue swelling, and a diffuse purpuric rash on the abdomen and back. A punch biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of a purpuric drug eruption. The rash resolved completely after a prednisone taper. Cladribine-induced purpura is a rare but self-resolving side effect of the medication, and careful consideration of concomitant drug use is necessary.
