- Abstract
A simple and fast preparative method of 2-styrylbenzoxazoles by oxidative intramolecular cyclization of styrylphenolic Schiff bases with thianthrene cation (Th+.ClO4−) is described. The oxidative cyclization of Schiff bases in the presence of 2,6-di- tert-butyl-4-methylpyridine (DTBMP) gives 2-styrylbenzoxazole derivatives in better yields than those in the absence of DTBMP.
