- Abstract
AIM: This study aim to examine the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on dyadic adjustment and the quality of sexual life of women. MATERIAL AND METHOD: This web-based cross-sectional study was conducted using a web-based online questionnaire. The questionnaires designed for the study were filled out by 386 women between June 15 and August 15, 2020 via the medium of social media. The questionnaires contained questions about the sociodemographic background of women and sexuality during the COVID-19 epidemic using the the Revised Dyadic Relations Scale (DRS) and the Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire for Females (SQLQ-F). RESULTS: 73.8% of women stated that their spousal relations had not been affected negatively during the COVID-19 epidemic, while 71.8% of the respondents reported no deterioration in their sexual life. The study found that women who stated that their relationship with their spouses and their sexual life suffered had lower mean scores on the sub-dimensions of DRS, Reconciliation and Consensus than women stating that their relationships with their spouses and their sexual life had not been affected, and the difference between the groups was statistically significant (p<0.05). Also, it was established that women who stated that their relationship with their spouses and their sexual life had been negatively affected had a lower mean SQLQ-F score than women stating that their relationship with their spouses and their sexual life had not been affected and the difference between the groups was statistically significant (p <0.05). CONCLUSION: The findings show that the dyadic adjustment and sexual life in women were not adversely affected in the COVID-19 epidemic; It was also determined that those who were adversely affected had lower dyadic adjustment and sexual quality of life.
