- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of oil and gas development on the Fort Berthold Indian reservation in North Dakota. It provides information on the legal differences of Fort Berthold from the rest of North Dakota, and focuses on the ways by which three affiliated tribes, now known as the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation, can meet its strategic challenges. It reflects on those environmental safeguards which will address the social and environmental needs of the Fort Berthold, North Dakota.
