- Abstract
At the present moment, the COVID-19 pandemic is the main focus of health professionals all over the world. Understanding the ways in which the virus causes substantial multisystem damage and early recognizing of signs and symptoms of infection deserve priority. In addition to the typical clinical findings of infection: fever, dry cough and dyspnea, cutaneous lesions have also been described. Considering that the skin is easily available for examination, cutaneous manifestations of the coronavirus disease may represent an indicator for early identification of paucisymptomatic or asymptomatic patients. Nevertheless, clinicians should take into account that a skin eruption may have numerous causes, other than the COVID-19 disease, so a partnership with a dermatologist is recommended, in order to act with caution. This article highlights the main cutaneous manifestations that may be related to COVID-19 described until the present moment, in order to aid in the daily practice of health care professionals of different specialties.
