Cobridme de flores: (Un)Covering Flowers of Portuguese and Spanish Poets in Sonnets from the Portuguese.
- Authors
Neri, Barbara
- Abstract
The article offers poetry criticism of several poems in the collection "Sonnets from the Portuguese," by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, including "Sonnet XLIV" and "Catarina to Camoens." It explores Browning's allusions to the work of poets Soror Maria do Ceo and Luis de Góngora y Argote in the collection. The author suggests that some poems are mere translations of existing works and focuses on the influence and treatment of these two poets in particular.
