- Abstract
This article discusses the practice of "skin popping," which involves injecting drugs intradermally or subcutaneously. It is a preferred method of drug use for some individuals, and it can also occur accidentally during intravenous injection or when veins are not accessible. The article focuses on a rare case of cutaneous nodules caused by skin popping with tapentadol, a relatively new opioid that is replacing tramadol in some areas. The patient in the case study injected tapentadol into the skin daily, resulting in the formation of nodules at the injection site. The article highlights the need for awareness of the visible cutaneous features of skin popping to facilitate early referrals and prevent complications.
