Playgrounds Found Superior to School Policies for Increasing Physical Activity.
- Abstract
The article presents a study which examines the ways in which schools encourage physical activity behavior among students. It notes that the findings reveal that schools have been identified as a key context in influencing health-related behavior of children. The amount of permanent playground equipment at the school is also associated with physical activity levels. Permanent playgrounds can contribute to an increase in the activity level during recess and after school hours.
