- Abstract
Since the 19th century and the irruption of liberalism, the interest in the revolt that occurred in Castile between 1520-1521 has awakened a deep fascination. Intertwining myth and history, it is difficult to discern “the voices of the echoes”, the rupture point between the actual reality of the events and the many interpretations in the form of propaganda, literature, political use, symbolism... To make an exhaustive study of the historiography and bibliography published on this subject is an impossible mission if one wants to approach it in its entirety and in all its complexity, given the number of aspects that outline the historical phenomenon. The aim of this “historiographic balance” is modest. It tries to approach the events of the commemoration of the V Centenary of the Battle of Villalar, highlighting some considerations and focusing on the latest contributions and the most recent lines of research, either new or subject to debate.
