- Abstract
The article focuses on an image about the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Phoenix lander and Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO). It depicts the Phoenix lander, which was ten kilometers above the surface of Mars on May 25, 2008, that was captured passing in front of Heimdall crater by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on the MRO. The engineers believed that the HiRISE would interfere with the radio on the MRO that was tracking Phoenix and expected that the image would not be captured. Fortunately, the image was entranced and it is presented in the article.
