The article discusses early childhood development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Intelligence quotient (IQ) is said to be included in pure cognitive abilities while patience, self-control, temperament and time preference are included in noncognitive abilities. Some research that focus on motor skills, cognitive development and socioemotional development in early childhood are discussed.
