- Abstract
The article discusses research being done on dynamic mechanisms underlying regulatory T cell homeostasis. It references a study by W. Pierson and colleagues which appeared in a 2013 issue of "Nature Immunology." The response of the forkhead box P3 (FOXP3)-expressing regulatory T cells was analyzed using a transgenic mouse model. Results of the study showed that co-stimulatory signalling and a rise in interleukin-2 expression influenced the homeostatic expansion of these cells.
