- Authors
Nanda, Aparajita
- Abstract
The article offers the author's insights on the science fiction novel "Lilith's Brood" of the writer Octavia Butler. She states that Butler uses themes, such as race, sexuality, and gender, in her speculative fiction while dealing with political and social issues. She adds that as Butler deals with the issues, she also explores taboo topics of incest such as bisexuality and genetic mutation. She says that the novel's character Lilith is a surrogate mother and a victim of a controlled society.
