- Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the effect of technology-based creative drama activities on students’ attitudes towards Social Studies course and problem-solving skills. In this study, mixed research design was used. A pretest- posttest semi experimental research design was used for quantitative data of the research. The study group consisted of 54 students in a middle school in Ankara, Etimesgut, 29 students in the experimental group and 25 students in the control group. Within the scope of the research, the experimental process lasted for four weeks. The topics of “Learning Civilizations and Our Cultural Characteristics” determined in this process were taught with technology-assisted creative drama activities in the experimental group and traditional methods were used in the control group. Social science course attitude scale (Cronbach Alpha= 0.61) and Problem-solving scale (Cronbach alpha= 0.80) were used as data collection tools. The data were analyzed using the mean, standard deviation and t-test. Within the scope of the research, the following results have been obtained: students’ attitudes towards social science course in general are high. Teaching social studies with technology-assisted creative drama activities does contribute a little more to students’ attitudes and problem-solving skills than traditional methods.
