- Abstract
The article offers information on the proposals related to minimizing or preventing strikes in the U.S. It states that the Federal Labor Relations Act of 1947 which was passed by the 79th congress directed to problem of having a new federal mediation machinery. It mentions that proposals that would settle labor disputes through compulsory arbitration limit the procedure in general to cases in which it has been found that dispute threatens a substantial interruption of industry. It reports that the bill H.R. 4908 would have granted U.S. President authority to establish a fact-finding board if the Secretary of Labor certifies that the dispute threatens national public interest.
