- Title
TORT LIABILITY PROBLEMS OF SMALL MUNICIPALITIES.
- Authors
WARP, GEORGE A.
- Abstract
The article offers information on the problems related to tort liability of municipal corporations. It is said that one of the chief obstacles in the way of further extension of liability is the fear that the abolition of the tort immunity of municipal corporations would impact small municipalities. A basis for drawing conclusions concerning the tort liability problems of small municipalities is provided by a survey sponsored by the Bureau of Public Administration at the University of Virginia. Statistics from 189 municipalities reveal that the present burden of tort liability upon small municipalities is insignificant.
