- Authors
Chase-Dunn, Christopher
- Abstract
The article presents a response to the arguments raised by Barry Buzan and George Lawson in their article "The Global Transformation: The Nineteenth Century and the Making of Modern International Relations," included within the issue. An overview of Buzan and Lawson's assertions is given regarding the political changes which occurred throughout the 19th century in global international organization and relations. Comments are then offered highlighting the negative aspects of the essay, such as their lack of topical focus on global inequality, the abolition of slavery, and future hegemony.
