- Title
Bilateral absence of the fibular artery: an unusual variation.
- Abstract
They believed that the bilateral peroneal arteries were absent and did not belong to any category of Kim's classification.1,2 However, we believe that the popliteal artery branch variant should belong to type IIIA, that is, the posterior tibial artery is congenital hypoplastic or aplastic and the peroneal artery is large. Through lower extremity angiography, it was clear that the popliteal artery bifurcated into the anterior tibial artery and the peroneal artery, and the distal peroneal artery extended into the plantar artery. The authors described a rare case in which the popliteal artery bifurcated into the anterior tibial artery and the posterior tibial artery.
