- Abstract
The social construction theory developed against Cartesian duality emphasizes that social spheres can not be understood with strict limitations defined as objective and subjective ways. This theory argues that the social knowledge is constructed with the participation of all social actors and structures, and these actors and structures are relational. This study aims to understand how the social reality is constructed by discussing Pierre Bourdieu and Peter L. Berger's & Thomas Luckmann's theory of social construction. While Bourdieu tries to figure out the social over habitus, field-camp, and illusio, Berger and Luckmann debate the social over objectification, internalization, externalization and habitualization. In this context, how Bourdieu and Berger's & Luckmann's theories construct the social sphere are discussed and the similarities and differences in their theories have been assessed.
