- Abstract
When it comes to the environment, one of the most important issues is the preservation of springs. The present experimental work consisted of systematically demonstrating how to preserve a spring. The work was carried out in the Igarapé do Urumarí basin, in the city of Santarém in the state of Pará. The Igarapé do Urumarí is located in the urban area of the city and is greatly impacted by the irregular occupation of its margins. The method used to recover the spring was Caxambú. For the construction of the source protection and preservation model, materials were used, such as: brick, canvas, sand, grass waste, 25 mm disinfection tube, 1 (one) 200 mm diameter concrete tube, where they were concreted. 04 (four) PVC pipes. Both the springs and the riparian forests need to be protected, within a radius of 50 meters for the springs and 30 meters for the riparian forests on both edges of the stream. The "Caxambú" springs preservation process used was presented as a viable alternative to be operationalized in the Urumarí Microbasin area as well as other small urban hydrographic basins in the city of Santarém-PA.
