- Abstract
The article discusses research on the influence of upper- and lower-body circumferences on the risk of mortality. The sample included 10,638 adults aged from 20-69 from the 1981 Canada Fitness Survey (CFS), who were monitored for more than 12 years for mortality. The results showed that waist and extremity circumferences have opposite, independent effects on mortality in the study participants.
