- Abstract
The article discusses a study which examines the pulmonary diffusing capacity for nitric oxide (DLNO) and carbon monoxide (DLCO) during exercise in morbidly obese people. The study involved 10 such subjects as well as nine nonobese controls who were asked to undergo sessions for measuring wattage as well as pulmonary diffusion from single-breath maneuvers. Results show that obese subjects exhibited greater DLNO, DLCO and pulmonary capillary blood volume as compared to the control group.
