- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the role of estrogen receptor-α (ERα) and -β (ERβ) in regulating leptin, resistin and adiponectin expression in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. Results of the study positively correlated messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) levels with ERα mRNA levels and negatively correlated mRNA levels with ERβ mRNA levels in the adipocytes. It suggests that the ratio of ERα-to-ERβ in 3T3 adipocytes may be an important potential regulatory factor in leptin expression.
