- Abstract
The article focuses on the need of developing ideal emergency contraception methods that are highly effective. A research study involving 733 women was conducted in Oxford, England. Out of these, 410 women experienced difficulty with the barrier method of contraception and 18 amongst these 410, used emergency contraception without success. The remaining did not use emergency contraception due to their lack of awareness. Hence, the study reported a need to develop new and effective methods of emergency contraception. The need to develop anti-progestogens as an emergency post-coital method was also highlighted. It is important to inform women about the effects of using various contraception methods involving contraceptive drugs, oral contraceptives, spermicide, etc.
