- Abstract
In this article, the authors highlight not only the importance of developing social-emotional competences, but also certain difficulties in pedagogical work. It has been proven that the benefits and results of the applied social-emotional competence development programs in schools are obvious - the application of these programs has a significant positive impact on the child's academic, behavioral, emotional, social, and cognitive achievements. In addition, the development of social-emotional competences strengthens the self-regulation of students' behavior, reduces the risk of developing emotional and behavioral difficulties, strengthens already acquired social-emotional competences and improves academic achievements. On the other hand, the conducted qualitative research revealed that, although the development of social-emotional competences and academic learning should not take place in parallel, but together as inseparable aspects, nevertheless, despite the importance of the development of these competences, teachers cannot pay enough attention to their development during lessons. Precisely, based on the above-mentioned context, the following problematic questions were formulated in this study: i) on the basis of which methodology is the social-emotional competence of students developed at the school?; ii) how do teachers, when planning educational activities, integrate the development of the child's socialemotional competences into them?
